Pleasant Valley School Board holds organizational meeting

The Pleasant Valley board held its organization meeting on Thursday evening.

Board President Russell Gould and directors Susan Kresge and Steven Borger were absent.For 2017, Gould will once again serve as president of the board. Len Peeters will serve as vice president and Bob Serfass, who took over as treasurer upon the death of Charles Hoffman, will continue in that position.Susan Kresge will serve as the MCTI JOC representative for a three-year term, ending in December 2019. Linda Micklos and Serfass also serve in this capacity. All board members will serve as alternates to this position.Kresge will also continue to serve as legislative chairwoman.The board accepted the retirement of district Superintendent Carole Geary. Geary has been with the district nearly 30 years, starting as a math teacher in the high school. Geary will be leaving when her contract expires on July 31."I have known and worked with Ms. Geary for more years than either one of us is willing to admit," board member Daniel Wunder said. "She is one of the hardest-working people I know and the district is better for her having been here."High school Principal John Gress and Micklos also expressed their appreciation and gratitude to Geary for the work she has done in the district.
