October 22, 1955 - Coaldale and Nesquehoning battle to a 6-6 tie in front of 5,000 fans at the Lansford High field. The Tigers, coached by Andy Kalen, score early in the contest after Bob Guzinski recovers a fumble on the game’s opening kickoff. Joe Ozefovich accounts for 20 of the 31 yards on the drive, including the final one into the end zone. The Nesquers, guided by Tony Mezza, gain the equalizer in the second frame. After Walt Ligenza intercepts a pass, Steve Kusko hooks up with Joe Krajcir on a 69-yard TD pass to knot the score. Coaldale reaches the red zone three more times, but Nesquehoning’s defense stiffens to preserve the tie.
