Meal-to-go

Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is having its community meal-to-go today from 5 to 6 p.m.

The meal consists of Sloppy Joe, hash browns, vegetable, fruit cup, chips, dessert and bottled water.

OTOH winners

Operation Touch of Home has announced the raffle winners from its recent drawing. They are: fourth prize, OTOH Red Friday Bundle, Margaret Kluk; third prize, Lottery Tree, Wayne Shupe; second prize, $175 gift card bundle, Kathleen Browne; first prize, American flag cornhole boards, Sharon Green; and grand prize, 40-inch Samsung Smart TV, Chris Guttzeid.

Congratulations and thanks are extended to all who participated from OTOH.

PTO meeting

The PV Intermediate School PTO meets at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Honor Guard

The American Legion Honor Guard is having a practice at 6 p.m. Thursday, according to its posted schedule.

Lions meet

The Western Pocono Lions Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Cherry’s Restaurant in Kresgeville. It is a dinner meeting.

PV School Board

The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Zoom link will be on the www.pvbears.org homepage the morning of Oct. 21.

Jeans needed

Valor is seeking jeans for winter wear.

The sizes requested are men’s, 32- to 36-inch waist, and women’s size 0 to 6.

Jeans can be dropped of at Paul’s House at 1130 Scenic Drive, Kunkletown, or at the drop-box at the Legion Post 927 in Gilbert.

Senior menu

The seniors attending the Brodheadsville Senior Center at Zion Lutheran Church can order the given lunch menu for Friday, which is cheese omelet, or the chicken cacciatore for Oct. 27.

But the order must be placed two days in advance by 11 a.m. with the site manager at 570-242-6770.

Friday deadline

From Bernie Kozen and Kim Tuin comes word that the West End Park and Open Space Commission is hosting a second Buy Local punchcard fundraiser.

This fundraiser has a dual purpose, to bring in funds to WEPOSC for its monthly programs and it is to bring customers to advertising businesses.

Craft event

The West End Park and Open Space Commission is hosting a free candy corn people craft making event from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville.

Stop in to make the craft or pick up supplies for making it at home.

Effort pantry

Effort UMC’s SFRC food pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Trick or treat

A community trick or treat will be happening at PVHS from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday. It is a drive-thru event, hosted by the Class of ’23 and the PVHS FBLA, with a cost per carload.

Cars should enter through the Route 115 Middle School/Administration entrance.

Pantry Fall Fest

The West End Pantry in Kunkletown is hosting a Fall Fest Community Jam from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at 516 Kunkletown Road.

Folks are invited to bring a chair for rock/pop music by the Seeking Satellites.

It will include free pumpkins, hot dogs and cider, while supplies last.

Food drive held

The West End Home Association, Post 927, Gilbert, is holding a Thanksgiving food drive to benefit community food banks now through Nov. 22.

People are asked to bring donations of canned/dry goods to the collection box in the Post 927 foyer.

Community supper

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, is hosting a supper, indoor dining, from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Monday bingo

The American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, continues to host open to the community Bingo Nites on Mondays. Card sales begin at 6:30 p.m.; game call begins at 7 p.m.

Household help

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, is collecting household items to help Second Harvest with its outreach to homeless and transitional folks. Needed are paper towels, dish soap (not large), mops and buckets, sponges, shower curtains plus liners and rings.

The church will collect these items until the end of October, when they will be donated to the Allentown-based outreach agency.
