No residential garbage rate increase in Towamensing

Towamensing Township residents received good news for the immediate future.

No increase is expected in next year’s residential garbage rate.

Supervisor John Kleintop discussed the garbage rates at Thursday’s board of supervisors meeting.

“We’re not planning to increase the garbage rates this year,” Kleintop said. “There will probably have to be increases to the residential rates in 2023.”

Kleintop added that the township plans to continue to allow residents to bring their ashes and drop them off; however, they will no longer be able to drop them off in the salt shed.

Residents are encouraged to make arrangements with the township.

But Kleintop said residents may still put their ashes out for garbage.

“They can still put their ashes out for garbage, but they must be cold ashes,” he said.
