Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m., join us for Prayer and Praise.

Every Sunday in October at 6 p.m., the youth group “Impact” will meet. It is open to all youth 12 years to 12th grade.

Every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. is a men’s Bible study group.

Oct. 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. is the Fall Ladies Luncheon.

Saturday evening will be time for fellowship at an event at Hofford Mills in Weissport.

Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. is church council meeting.

Oct. 14 and 28 at 2 p.m. is an adult Bible study.

Oct. 17 during both church services, PA Adult & Teen Challenge will be our guests. They will be here to sing and give testimonies of their new life walking with the Lord.

Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon is Church Work Day.

Donations accepted: Faith Alive’s own food pantry, ABC Food Pantry. Helping the needy among our community, and Faith Alive’s ministry, Micah’s Backpack Program. It is our 10th year helping the Palmerton school children and their families.

Faith Alive’s October Mission: “Operation Christmas Child” This wonderful cause brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes and the good news of God’s love.

Special shout out to Pastor Rob Timlin, October is pastor appreciation month. Thank you for all you do!

Class of 1985

Palmerton Area High School Class of 1985 will be holding its 35th class reunion (No. 36 due to COVID-19) on Oct. 29 from 7-11 p.m. at Stoney Ridge Park, Fireline Road, Palmerton. All PHS Class of 1985 classmates are welcome. Graduation with the class is not necessary. No cost to classmates or their guests. BYOB, but sodas and water will be provided. Fall filling sale

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) is taking orders for their fall filling sale. Order deadline is Nov. 13. Pickup is either Nov. 20 from noon to 4 p.m. or Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There is also an order form at Sunday services. JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, holds worship each Sunday at 10 a.m. in the church grove (weather permitting). Dress comfortably and bring a lawn chair. Supply pastor Don Quayle will lead the service.

Sunday school for children 6-12 years is alternating weeks of in-person and Zoom learning to better serve everyone.

Upcoming events include a members adult wine and cheese campfire on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. Also the Annual Basket Raffle & Bazaar will be on Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

The Quilt & Crafts group will meet Oct. 14 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church basement. There is a variety of crafts from quilting to cross stitching to bag making. Stop by and check it out.

Grief and loss support group

The Monthly Grief and Loss Support Group at JUCC, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville will meet Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. and Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. The group is presently being held on a web platform. Directed by Sue Featro, M.E.D., E.D.D., M.S. Counseling, this group is for people experiencing grief due to trauma, loss or death. It is an effort to assist people in the surrounding community to heal and find peace. Fall Basket Spectacular

The Palmerton Concourse Club will hold its Fall Basket Spectacular on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. Fun and festivities for all. Delicious home-baked goods, soups and light lunch items for sale. Basket drawings will be after 2:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Palmerton community.

Annual fall basket social

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold their annual fall basket social on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be theme baskets with $25 hidden in three baskets. Food will be available both dates: Barbecue, homemade soups, filling, etc. There will be baked goods, chow chow, and apple butter for sale. Drawing will be Saturday at 1 p.m.

Halloween parade

The Palmerton Halloween Parade will be held Oct. 17 beginning at 4 p.m. The parade will form at the Seventh Street Field. The parade will travel to Lafayette Avenue, turn left and continue on Lafayette Avenue to Second Street. Turn left and go to Franklin Avenue. Turn left and go to Third Street. Turn right and go to Delaware Avenue. Turn left on Delaware Avenue and return to Seventh Street, where the parade will disband. The rain date will be Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

Free community meal

A free community meal will be held Oct. 12 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. For information, please call 610-826-2050.

Sew What Quilt Guild Bingo

The Sew What Quilt Guild will be hosting a bingo event at the Palmerton Area Library on Sunday at 1 p.m. Doors open at noon. All prizes are quilted or craft items. Advance tickets are available at a lower cost at the library desk prior to the event. Regular price tickets available at the door. Additional cards, raffle, and refreshments will be available for purchase. Masks are required. For information please call the library at 610-826-3424.
