Schuylkill County Elections Director Al Gricoski is reminding people about proper procedure for their mail-in and absentee ballots.

“We had a couple that did not have the signature on,” he said.

He did not have a tally but said it was “just a handful.”

The Pennsylvania Department of State Bureau of Elections will send those registered voters a letter saying they can vote by provisional ballot by going to the polling place.

“We can’t accept them,” he said.

They must have a signature and date on the return envelope, Gricoski said, something the website vote.pa.gov confirms.

The elections office has sent between 5,600 and 5,800 mail-in and absentee ballots so far. Oct. 26 is the deadline to apply for one of those ballots. To do so, visit the Schuylkill County Elections Office, 420 N. Centre St., Pottsville or visit vote.pa.gov.

Nov. 2 is the election. Ballots are due to the elections office by 8 p.m. Election Day.
