Tamaqua woman is charged with drug counts

Tamaqua Police say a borough woman sold methamphetamine to an undercover cop in January.

Tonya Nicole Braun, 30, is charged with two counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or delver and one count of possessing a controlled substance. She waived her right to a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer.

Police said Braun met a confidential informant behind the Tamaqua Rescue Squad building on East Rowe Street on Jan. 6. Police videotaped the transaction. She wanted the money first and then would bring drugs. The informant sad no.

Braun returned with the suspected methamphetamine and gave it to the informant for $160, police said.

The informant then gave police the drugs, which were then packaged, sealed and stored into evidence to be given to the State Police Crime lab for analysis.
