Schuylkill commissioners approve election items

Schuylkill County Commissioners approved several items related to the Nov. 2 election Wednesday.

Elections Director Al Gricoski did not attend the meeting but said he was thankful for the approvals.

“We’re in pretty good shape with it,” he said of the upcoming election.

Those hired for the following jobs for the election are classified as independent contractors.

Commissioners voted to hire 14 election rovers to start immediately for the purpose of office preparation, logistics and accuracy.

Pay is $10 an hour. Mileage is 57.5 cents per mile.

The following were hired: Joe Matz, Ron Coleman, Carol Cooney-Syzdek, Paula Warmkessel, John Handler, Morgan Rupert, Tim Wood, Gary Keifer, Marybeth Matz, Daniel Wachter, Delmar Phillips and Jacob Sobel.

Two additional rovers are needed.

Four per diem employees were hired: Delmar Phillips, Jacob A. Sobel, Mary Ann Yanchulis and Kathy Manning.

The following 11 machine delivery drivers were hired: Kenneth Eichenberg, Steven Davis, William Klinger, James Zerbe, Thomas Kurtek, Rory Reiley, Katie Dinger, Denise Wallace, Delmar Phillips, Darren Phillips and Gary Keiner.

Four resolution board members were chosen: Renee Buchanan, Edward Barket, George Moyer and Michael Vigoda.

Seven people were hired for the computing board: Joann Myers, James Klock, Susan Kester, Joanne Dower, Rose Kern, Sharon Chiao and Maryann Lindner.

Gricoski said poll worker training will occur in October for those new this year.

“We’re always hoping to hire people to volunteer to be poll workers,” he said.
