Tractor pull fundraiser Saturday to benefit local family
There will be a memorial tractor pull on Saturday to benefit the family of Dalton Davidson.
“We know Dalton’s family and I am happy we can do this fundraiser for them,” said Dennis Borger, president of the Pocono Old Tyme Farm Equipment Association.
Davidson died Aug. 25 from injuries sustained when a car hit the back of his John Deere A series tractor as he was stopped on Route 209 to make a turn.
Saturday’s fundraiser will begin at 10 a.m. at the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert.
“We’re hoping to raise as much as we can through hook fees, raffles, food sales and donations,” Borger said.
Raffle prizes include gift cards and gift baskets.
Food will include hamburgers, hot dogs, soups, side dishes, desserts and drinks.
All pullers and spectators are welcome.
There will be no trophies or prizes for the pulling.
Those who want to participate in the tractor pull can just show up. There is no preregistration involved.
“This is a yearly event for us. We have donated to so many people over the last 25 years. We find someone local who needs help,” Borger said.
The association always holds its tractor pull fundraiser during the first weekend of October.
One year it was a father and son who sustained severe injuries in a fire.
Another year it was a child with a rare disease.
The association chose Dalton’s family as the fundraiser recipient soon after the tragedy occurred.
“I knew Dalton’s grandfather the best and Dalton’s dad a little from talking to him. I never had a conversation with Dalton, but I saw him driving his truck a lot,” said Borger, who lives about a mile and half from the Davidsons in Saylorsburg.
For those who cannot attend the event but wish to make a donation, please send a check, marked “benefit pull,” to Old Tyme Farm Equipment Association, P.O. Box 6, Gilbert, PA 18331.
