Burma, the dog found along a road in a crate last month in Schuylkill County, is available for adoption.
The Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA has received five adoption applications, which they are processing.
Additional applications are not being accepted.
If a prospective pet parent isn’t selected, applications will again be welcome.
The male Shih Tzu was found abandoned in St. Clair along the Burma Road.
Burma had a skin, eye, ear and facial infection when found by a motorist. His paws had matted hair 2 to 3 inches thick.
A post from the shelter said he is doing “fantastic.”
His eye infection is healing and his hair is growing back.
He is good with small dogs and cats.
Those considering adoption must have all animals in their home spayed, neutered and up to date on shots.
