A motion was passed by the Carbon County Technical Institute Joint Operating Committee, on the recommendation of Administrative Director David Reinbold, to purchase 24 GED tests at a cost of $720. This is intended to match a tentative grant contribution from the Jim Thorpe Rotary for the same amount.

"According to the teachers, people have a real hard time paying for these tests," Reinhold said.Students are required to pay $30 per test, and may have to take four tests in order to cover the necessary subject areas."The battery of tests could cost them $120, and they can have problems coming up with $120," Reinhold said. "So, if we can work with another community service agency to help them, we will."The Jim Thorpe Rotary is applying for the grants.
