Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then the traditional service at 11 a.m.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m., join us for prayer and praise.

Sept. 23 and 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. is the Silver Sisters Exercise Class.

Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. is staff parish meeting.

September Mission of the Month is Samaritan’s Purse. It is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970 they helped victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

‘Aladdin Jr.’

The Palmerton Area Drama Club will give a performance of Disney’s “Aladdin Jr.” Sept. 18 and 19 at the Palmerton Area High School, 3525 Fireline Road, Palmerton. On Sept. 18 the doors will open at 6 p.m. with curtain at 7 p.m. On Sept. 19 the doors will open at 1 p.m. with curtain at 2 p.m. Please come and support the cast for what is sure to be a fantastic performance.

Third Monday Book Club

The Third Monday Book Club will meet on Sept. 20 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Palmerton Area Library. The group meets the third Monday of each month. September’s book is “The Face of a Stranger” by Ann Perry. New members are always welcome.

The book for October will be “A Long Petal of the Sea” by Isabel Allende.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) holds worship each Sunday at 10 a.m. Sunday school has also resumed. Worship will continue to be held in the church grove weather permitting. Dress comfortably and bring a lawn chair. Supply Pastor Don Quayle will lead the worship.

The next event for the church will be the Apple and Fall Festival which will be held Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the picnic grove.

Food pantry

The CACPAC sponsored Palmerton Food Pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton on Sept. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The pantry supports residents of the Palmerton Area School District only. You will need to show proof of residency and answer questions regarding your income.

This is a drive-thru event, so please remain in your vehicle and follow the instructions given by the volunteers. If you are unable to attend, someone may pick up for you.

The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items, paper and personal care items. Donations may be dropped off at 459 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. A box will be on the porch for donations. Local churches also collect on a regular basis.

Borough Council

A regular meeting of the Palmerton Borough Council will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 23 in Borough Hall Council Chambers, 443 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

Breakfast

An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. Menu items include eggs to order, potatoes, pancakes, SOS, toast, cereal, hash, ham, bacon, sausage, OJ, coffee, tea and milk.

Living Hope Lighthouse Church

Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton, invites you to join in worship on Sunday at 10 a.m. as they celebrate Come Back to Church Sunday. The theme for the service is Hope is Here.

Heroes Day

The second annual Heroes Day will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the grove pavilion at the Palmerton Pool.
