Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then the traditional service at 11 a.m. This Sunday is Holy Communion Sunday.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m., join us for prayer and praise.

Sept. 7 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. the Prayer Shawl Group meets. They are in need of red, white and navy blue yarn to make lap robes for the veterans.

Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. is the Silver Sisters Exercise Class.

Sept. 12 at 9:45 a.m. is the start of Youth Confirmation classes.

Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. is church council meeting.

Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. is staff parish meeting.

September Mission of the Month is Samaritan’s Purse. It is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970 they helped victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Breakfast

Breakfast will be served Sunday from 8-11:30 a.m. at the Parryville Fire Co. No. 2, 359 Main St., Parryville. Platter choices include pancakes, French toast, eggs any style, SOS, Fire House Mess, western omelet, ham and cheese omelet. Choices of meats are ham, sausage, scrapple or bacon. Includes home fries, juice and coffee. They have large and small platters.

Yard sale

The Kids for the Community will be hosting a yard sale this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking area of the Little Bombers Daycare, 180 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. Please stop by and shop, help out, or donate some things to sell to help this group.

Blue Mountain Quilt Guild

The Blue Mountain Quilt Guild will meet at the Palmerton Area Library on Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. The group explores all things related to fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, etc. Stop by and check it out. The group will meet the first Tuesday of each month.

Library basket raffle

The basket raffle is ongoing at the Palmerton Area Library. The board of directors has put together some wonderful baskets. Tickets can be purchased at the library front desk. Winners will be contacted Sept. 13.

Chalk the Walk

The Concourse Club of Palmerton is hosting in conjunction with the Community Festival and Art Show, Palmerton’s First Chalk the Walk.

Registration is required to participate by Sept. 8. You may register online. For information, please email concourseclubartshow@gmail.com.

Each registrant will be assigned a numbered sidewalk along Delaware Avenue or Third Street. Create and share your chalk art for a chance to win a $25 gift card to Claude’s Creamery. All chalk must be water-based. A limited amount of chalk will be available to registrants at Sacred Heart Church Hall on Sept. 10 from 5-7 p.m.

Youth wrestling

The Palmerton Youth Wrestling Association will hold a board meeting on Sept. 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Towamensing Township Municipal Building, 120 Stable Road, Lehighton.

The wrestlers will also be having a roast beef stand at the Palmerton Community Festival.

Labor Day

The Palmerton Area School District announces that schools will be closed on Friday and Monday in observance of Labor Day.
