Palmerton may look to create a ticketing system targeted at property maintenance issues.
Borough Manager Donna McGarry informed borough council on Thursday that she and borough code enforcement officer Clark Ritter are checking into the situation.
McGarry said the borough has issues with properties that have high grass and weeds, and as a result, is looking at going toward a ticketing system to address the situation.
She said that if an individual is in violation of property maintenance regulations and they do not pay the ticket, a citation will be issued.
“We just feel it’s an effective way for people to comply without costing them an arm and a leg,” McGarry said. “There has always been issues with property maintenance; this is a way to hopefully get compliance without turning into a major expense for residents.”
