PALMERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Approved two change orders totaling $44,870 to Utility Services Group Inc., which televised all of the borough’s sewer lines to look for cracks and breaks in the lines. The borough will follow up with repairs to the damaged areas, with the goal of this two-step process being to stop infiltration of stormwater into the sewer system.

• Approved the Community Development Block Grant general application certification.

• Accepted the resignation of part-time police officer Jonathan Amanto.

• Agreed to require masks for unvaccinated participants in organized groups approved for use of the borough hall meetings rooms and gymnasium who will be required to follow those guidelines.

• Approved the Jim Thorpe fire police assistance request for weekends in October.

• Approved the Lehighton Borough fire police assistance request to attend its Halloween Parade on Oct. 2, with a rain date of Oct. 3.

• Extended the Declaration of Disaster Emergency until Dec. 15.
