Baer Memorial Swimming Pool will close for a week due to staffing.
The pool will shut down Monday through Friday, according to borough recreation director Tom Evans.
“Due to staffing with lifeguards going back to college,” Evans said. “We have guards from Panther Valley also and they start school Monday, and with sports with Lehighton (starting up).
“Even this week was a challenge. I even shut down the slides and everything, we only had the pool; I think most people appreciated that with the 90-degree weather.”
Evans said the pool will open back up for Labor Day weekend.
“I have a couple college kids coming home for Labor Day weekend,” he said. “With sports, cheerleaders, they really don’t practice on the weekends; the weekends are fine, during the week it’s crazy.”
Evans said the pool has experienced a breakout year.
“This year has been our best year since we opened the pool in 2009,” he said. “We sold our most memberships, our food stand did real well.”
Evans noted that the new pavilion is almost completed.
The pool opened for the season on Memorial Day.
