Panther Valley is looking for a new director of special education as it begins the school year.
On Wednesday, school board members accepted the resignation of Dr. Tammy Chrin, who served in the position since October 2019.
The district is allowed to retain Chrin for up to 60 days from her resignation, giving it time to find a replacement.
The district is accepting applications for the position through next week, and Superintendent David McAndrew Jr. said that it has received quality applicants.
“She’s a big loss, she was great for our district, but we believe we can find an applicant who can fill her shoes,” he said.
The district also accepted the resignation of four teachers at the junior-senior high school: Zane Bachert, special education teacher, effective Aug. 4; Candace Olson, math teacher, effective Aug. 8; Joseph Berezwick, social studies teacher, effective Aug. 17; and Amy Veli, business education teacher, effective Aug. 12.
The board hired five new junior-senior high school teachers under emergency permits, all at a rate of $37,899: Tiffany Blouse, special education; Benjamin Turrano, social studies; Joseph Bradley, science; Kristopher Nalesnik, math; and Stephen Reimert, business education.
