State police at Fogelsville reported investigating a two-vehicle crash at 5:17 p.m. on Aug. 9 along Route 22 in Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County.

Troopers said Ronald L. Bond, 76, of Danielsville, was driving a 1996 International Harvester box truck westbound in the left lane while Matthew G. Bernard, 37, of Allentown, was driving a 2021 Nissan Titan, in the center westbound lane. Bond began to merge into the center lane with his truck, striking the driver’s side of Bernard’s vehicle. The contact forced Bond’s truck to veer left and strike the center median concrete barrier and a PennDOT construction sign.

Bond sustained a suspected minor injury and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, by Cetronia ambulance. Bernard was not injured.

The truck was towed while the Nissan was driven from the scene.

Troopers cited Bond.
