24th Dream Come True charity game to be held

The Walnutport Playground Association will host the 24th annual charity boys versus girls game.

All proceeds from the event held on Aug. 28 will be donated to Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter.

Dream Come True is a nonprofit organization that fulfills dreams of local children, ages 4-18, which are seriously, chronically, or terminally ill.

The game will feature youth players from Northern Lehigh softball and baseball.

A basket raffle and auction will be held during the game which will consist of donations received from businesses, organizations and individuals.

All donors will be recognized during the games and televised check presentation.

Kendall Heiney, event chairperson, said the game will help raise funds for Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter.

“The goal is to make as much money as possible so we can help sick kids in need,” Heiney said. “I go to school with some of the kids as well, and I like to help them achieve their dreams outside of school.”

Heiney, who will be a senior at Northern Lehigh High School, said she wants to help the community a bit before she leaves next year for college.

“It’s a huge community event,” she said. “It’s very nice to see the community coming together for this long, and helping people who need help.”

Heiney said anyone who would like to make a monetary contribution, or donate items for the basket raffle/auction may contact 610-762-1196 or kmh28@ptd.net.

Check contributions may be written to “Walnutport Playground Association.”

Donations can be picked up or sent to: Walnutport Playground C/O Kendall Heiney 1133 Arbor Lane, Slatington, PA 18080.
