The following hikes are planned for the two state parks in Barnesville, Schuylkill County.
• On Aug. 15 naturalist Robin Tracey, of Tuscarora State Park, will lead a hike at the Landingville Marsh. The trail is 4 miles long and easy. Participants will hike around the marsh looking for wildlife and wildflowers.
A stop will be made at the Auburn Dam. Meet at the Advanced Auto Parts store in the Cressona Mall to carpool at 10 a.m. The hike starts at 10:30 a.m. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed and get along with other pets and people.

• On Aug. 23, at 10:15 a.m. a hike to explore the mountain behind Locust Lake State Park will be held with a visit to Silver Creek Fire Tower. The hike is 5 miles long and moderate in difficulty. The pine stands and brush are perfect habitat for birds and other wildlife. Meet at the visitor parking lot of Locust Lake located before the contact station at 10 a.m. Participants will be traveling to another area to start the hike.
Bring a lunch and your dog for a nice relaxing hike in the woods. All pets must be leashed and get along with people and other pets. Shine only.
