Three defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Tuesday before Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.

Webb accepted the pleas and immediately imposed sentences.Michael James Ritter, 28, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of habitual offender to the motor vehicle code. He was arrested on May 9 by state police at Lehighton along SR209 in Franklin Township.Webb sentenced him to serve 30 days to one year in jail. He will serve the time on consecutive weekends beginning Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.William Graver, 56, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of theft. He was arrested on Oct. 30, 2010, by state police at Lehighton for an incident at the Blue Mountain Ski Area in Lower Towamensing Township. He was charged with stealing a snowboard.Webb sentenced him to serve 30 days to on year in jail and make restitution of $180.Jason Allen Hein, 30, of McClure, Snyder County, pleaded to one count of false indentification to law enforcement. He was arrested on May 30 by state police at Lehighton following a vehicle stop along SR209 in Frankin Township.Webb placed him on probation for a year.ARD placementsThree persons in pending cases were placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program by Webb. If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, failure to complete the program could result in revocation and the defendant facing all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.Placed were:Antonio Richard August Jr., 25, of Palmerton, was placed for a year on a DUI charge. He was arrested on March 14 along Mill Road in Lower Towamensing Township, by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a controlled substance in his system.Webb ordered he pay $450 for the cost of the program, get a D&A evaluation and his license suspended for 60 days.Dennis Charles Schnell, 59, of Groton, Conn., was placed for a year on a DUI charge. He was arrested on May 27 along Canal St., in Franklin Township, by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .16BAC.He was ordered to pay $450 for the program, get a D&A evaluation and license suspended for 60 days.Debra Gay Ziegenfuss, 57, of Lehighton, was placed for a year on a DUI charge. She was arrested on April 8 by state police at Lehighton in Franklin Township. Given a test, the result was .11BAC.She was ordered to pay $400 for the program, get a D&A evaluation, license suspended for 30 days and render 15 hours of community service.Each defendants above must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
