Towamensing Township Fire Department plans to look into the possibility of adding a tanker to its fleet.
Township fire Chief Danny Reis informed the township’s board of supervisors on Thursday that the fire company formed a formal truck committee.
After the meeting, Reis said a tanker would replace the department’s current 1986 tanker.
“It’s time to update,” Reis said. “We just formed the committee on Monday.”
Reis said any purchase of a tanker would require the department to take out a loan.
He said the department’s inventory also includes a 1983 brush truck, 1998 pumper, 2000 utility, 2007 rescue, 2010 mini pumper, and a 2014 brush truck.
