Burned peanuts in a peanut roaster resulted in smoky conditions at Dunbar Bottling in Lehighton Sunday afternoon.
Assistant Fire Chief Michael Mriss said the incident occurred at around 12:25 p.m. at the business at 202 Maiden Lane.
“We were dispatched for a commercial fire alarm,” Mriss said. “We got on scene and we had smoke showing from the exterior of the building.”
Mriss said the peanuts caused the issue.
“It was more of a smoke condition due to it,” he said. “We just ventilated the building to remove the smoke.”
Mriss said there was “really no damage other than the loss of peanuts,” and added firefighters were on scene for about an hour.
“The biggest issue was ventilating smoke from the structure,” he said.
Mriss said there were no injuries.
He said Lehighton EMS also assisted at the scene.
