Tamaqua man didn’t attend hearing; threat charges held

A Tamaqua man had terroristic threat and harassment charges held for court after a preliminary hearing recently.

Kyle Frantz, 28, did not appear for the noon hearing July 13 in Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer’s courtroom. Tamaqua police charged him after a May 26 incident at the Turkey Hill in Tamaqua where police say he made a threat he was going to slit the throat of Esmeralda Vasquez, who reported it to police.

The woman grabbed a baseball bat and said he was going to no such thing.

Vasquez said that Frantz kept saying “he promises he’s going to end her life.”

He made other threats of violence in the past, police said.
