Cloned cards used at gas pumps

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating incidents in which a cloned credit/debit cards were used to make purchases at a Monroe County business defrauding the business.

Troopers said the victim business was the Weis Market, located along Weir Lake Road in Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township.

Troopers identified at least eight incidents where a person used a cloned card to purchase fuel into a vehicle, fuel containers and/or transfer fuel tank. The incidents occurred dating back to April 18 and continuing up to July 8.

Troopers identified three pickup trucks, Ford, Dodge and Nissan, as being involved in some of the purchases. No amount of loss revenue was listed in the police report.

In an unrelated incident troopers said a credit card skimming device was located on the inside of one of the gas pumps at the Uni-Mart, located along Route 209 at Weir Lake Road, in Chestnuthill Township, on July 12 at 10:50 a.m.
