His Excellency, the Most Rev. Joseph McShea, D.D., Bishop of Allentown, has announced the appointment of the Rev. James J. Haggerty, assistant pastor of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Jim Thorpe, as assistant pastor of the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown.

Named to succeed him here is the Rev. James J. Mulligan, who has been serving as a student priest at the North American College in Rome, Italy.

Haggerty has been serving here since 1959 and has been serving as the Regional Director of the Catholic Bishop’s Relief Association in Carbon County since January.
