More hikes planned

Two more hikes are planned at Locust Lake and Tuscarora state parks in Barnesville, Schuylkill County.

• On July 25, starting at 9:30 a.m., participants will explore the mountain behind Locust Lake State Park and visit Silver Creek Fire Tower. The hike is 5 miles long and moderate in difficulty. The pine stands and brush are perfect habitat for birds and other wildlife. Meet at the visitor parking lot at the park, located before the contact station at 9:15 a.m. The group will be traveling to another area to start the hike.

Bring a lunch and your dog for a relaxing hike in the woods. All pets must be leashed and get along with people and other pets. Shine only. Registration is required. Preregister by calling Robin Tracey at 570-467-2506.

• Join the naturalist from Tuscarora State Park on July 27 at 10 a.m. for a hike at Roaring Creek Watershed, north of Aristes on Route 42. Meet at the Roaring Creek parking lot located off Route 42 below the Weiser Forest District building.

The group will be hiking the Homestead and Corduroy trails. The hike is 5.5 miles and moderate in difficulty.

Registration is required by calling 570-467-2506. Dogs are welcome, but all pets must be leashed and get along with other pets and people. Bring a lunch. Shine only.
