During a specially scheduled borough meeting the Parryville council opened its only bid for the purchase of a municipal snowplow.
Monday night only three of the council members were in attendance when a borough resident was announced as the new owner of the winter equipment. The attachable truck-plow was sold for $800 to a private resident in Parryville. Originally the plow was advertised for $1,000, requiring public advertising of the sale. Since the board received only one bid, Sharon Hinkle, Kevin Greenzweig and council President Cathy Hawk agreed to sell the equipment for $200 less than the previous asking price.Earlier in the month the council appointed new zoning officer, Martin E. Sowers of Light-Heighle and Associates Inc. The company is based out of Palmyra.Council requests residents with concerns contact Sowers directly by phone 717-838-7351.
