New Ringgold council sells property

During a meeting Monday, New Ringgold council recouped $14,000 in delinquent garbage, sewage and tax bills by selling a property for $15,001.

The borough had taken possession of the property because of the unpaid bills. Borough Mayor John Belsak was the lone bidder.Council members are ramping up their efforts to clean up a property at 45 Hughes St., owned by Gretchen Asbury. The borough's code enforcement officer has cited the property numerous times. During Monday's meeting, council members decided to send Asbury a notice of violation, giving her 30 days to respond. After the 30 days, council plans to take legal action.Charlene Hoffman was appointed to serve as deputy tax collector. John Williams remains the tax collector for New Ringgold.
