A park naturalist from Tuscarora State Park in Barnesville, Schuylkill County, will conduct a basic kayaking course.
Kayaks, paddles and personal flotation devices will be provided. Maximum weight capacity is 275 pounds.
Registration is required by signing up at the park office prior to the event via phone at 570-467-2506 or in person. No online or fax registration will be taken.
Each participant can send a donation check of $10 made payable to the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The class will be canceled in case of inclement weather conditions. There is limited space for the program. If a participant has their own equipment, is acceptable at $3 per person.
Meet at the Tuscarora SP visitor center. Each child must be accompanied by an adult and be 12 years of age or older. The class dates and times are: July 4 and 17; Aug. 1 and 17; and Sept. 4, all starting at 9:30 a.m.
All classes are posted on the DCNR website, dcnr.state.pa.us under the calendar of events for the park. People need only to sign up for one class.
