Palmerton Borough Council, with Councilwoman Holly Hausman-Sell absent, took the following action on Thursday:

• Appointed Terry Mertz as emergency management coordinator.

• Approved a policy negotiated on between the borough’s Personnel Committee and the Palmerton Police Benevolent Association for the filling of open shifts.

• Approved a use request for Crusaders For a Cause to hold its 16th annual Crusaders For a Cause spring carnival May 19-22, 2022, in the borough park.

• On a 5-0 vote, with an abstention from council President Terry Costenbader, agreed to close down Third Street from Delaware Avenue to Lafayette Avenue from 9 a.m. to noon June 19 for the Palmerton Pace-Makers Palmerton Car Show. Costenbader abstained because he is a member of the Palmerton Pace-Makers.
