WALNUTPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL

Walnutport Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Accepted the letter of resignation from part-time police officer Richard Compton, effective April 21.

• Agreed to have borough roadmaster Michael Wentz move forward with prices and patchwork at various locations in the borough, piggybacking with the Walnutport Authority at an amount of up to $5,000.

• Agreed to finish, prepare and hydro seed the veterans memorial at a cost of $1,200, courtesy of a hydro-seeding donation.

• Agreed to finish, prepare and hydro seed the volleyball area in the amount of $800, through a hydro-seeding donation.

• Granted the Walnutport Playground Association permission to hold the carnival, fireworks and for extra police coverage.

• Approved a request from the Northern Lehigh High School graduating class of 2021 to hold a rolling parade June 10.

• Agreed to have extra police coverage for the parade celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Diamond Fire Company on June 12.

• Announced an E-recyling event will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday in the borough hall parking lot, 417 Lincoln Ave.

• Agreed to close the memorial account.

• Approved a pair of fire police assistance requests for Palmerton, including its Memorial Day Parade May 31, and for the eighth annual Raising the House 5K fundraiser June 5.
