A North Carolina driver died in a one-vehicle crash in Schuylkill County early Monday morning.

State police at Frackville said the crash occurred at 1:36 a.m. along Interstate 81 in Kline Township.

Troopers said Jody Moffett, 52, of Fayetteville, was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer northbound in the right lane. The vehicle then entered the left lane at which time Moffett attempted to re-enter the right lane, overcompensated, causing the vehicle to overturn several times. The vehicle came to rest across the right lane and right shoulder.

Moffett, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the McAdoo Fire Company and ambulance, Mahanoy City West End Fire Company, Hometown and Delano fire police and the county coroner’s office.
