Councilman attends meeting after letter asking for his resignation

A Lehighton councilman sat in on last week’s borough council meeting one month after being called out for his repeated absences.

Councilman Darryl Arner was in attendance after council last month agreed to send a letter requesting his resignation due to his continual absence.

All council members agreed to sign the letter following an executive session at last month’s council meeting.

After the meeting, borough Manager Nicole Beckett said a letter was sent to Arner, but no response was received.

A longtime councilman, Arner’s term is set to expire in 2023.
