Schuylkill bar announces judicial review results

The Schuylkill County Bar Association has announced the results of a judicial qualification survey it conducted recently with regard to the May 18 primary.

Four candidates - James G. Conville, Christina E. Hale, Christopher W. Hobbs and Julie A. Werdt - are seeking both Democratic and Republican nominations for terms on the county’s Court of Common Pleas.

The association said in accordance with its bylaws, members of the association who are active attorneys in the county, cast ballots expressing their opinions as to the fitness and qualifications of the candidates. The survey asked the lawyers to rate the four candidates in categories: highly recommended, recommended, not recommended and not familiar with candidates.

The results are as follows:

Highly recommended: Hale, 74; Hobbs, 70; Conville, 49; Werdt, 24.

Recommended: Werdt, 46; Conville, 41; Hobbs, 35; Hale, 24.

Not recommended: Werdt, 30; Conville, 16; Hale, 13; Hobbs, 8.

Not familiar with candidate: Werdt, 17; Conville, 11; Hale, 6; Hobbs, 4.
