LEHIGHTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

Lehighton Borough Council took the following action on Monday:

• Approved payment applications No. 9 ($3,145) and No. 10 ($40,578) for the completion of the Lehighton Area Memorial Library building addition.

• Tabled a quotation in the amount of $4,700 from the Gehringer Corporation for maintenance inspection program for the roofs at borough hall, the Annex building, the Rec Center, the police department, and Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1,

• Agreed to have borough solicitor Jim Nanovic proceed with actions necessary to resolve the issues with the annex cooling tower project.

• Accepted the resignation of Brian Rubin from the borough Water Authority Board, effective June 1, and appointed Larry Markley and Russell Schoenberger to fill the board vacancies, effective June 1.

• Agreed to limit daily pool memberships to Carbon County residents due to COVID-19 restrictions.

• Approved the 2021 seasonal employee list for Baer Memorial Pool. Councilman Donnie Rehrig commended borough Recreation Director Tom Evans for the list.

• Approved the Lehighton Area School District Motorcade request.

• Approved the Lehighton Area School District Commencement 2021 request for security and parking, provided that there’s personnel available.

• Approved a request from Timothy Ream, Bethany E.C. Church, to use the Amphitheater and Upper Park for National Day of Prayer from 4-9 p.m. today, and an outdoor movie from 4-9 p.m. June 12.

• Approved a request from St. Luke’s Hospice to hold the 10th Annual Hospice Bike Ride Event at the Lehighton Trailhead, with fire police personnel if available.

• Agreed to advertise for bids on diesel and gasoline contracts.

• Agreed to close borough offices Dec. 23 and Dec. 30 for the holidays.
