Panther Valley Senior Center

The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced the menu for the week of May 10-14.

Monday: California chicken, parsley potatoes, broccoli, chocolate pudding or chicken ranch salad

Tuesday: Swedish meatballs, buttered noodles, peas and carrots, melon or egg salad sandwich

Wednesday: Honey glazed turkey, roasted potatoes, green beans, cookie or Greek salad with chicken

Thursday: Sweet and sour shrimp, brown rice, stir fry vegetables, orange or antipasto salad

Friday: Roast pork, mashed potatoes, sautéed cabbage, cookie, or chicken salad on a bagel

The senior center also has the following events for the month:

Celebrate Mothers on May 10 at 11 a.m.; Bingo on May 11 at 10:45 a.m.; Shut the Box Game on May 12 at 11 a.m.; Bingo at 10:45 a.m. on May 13; Chair Exercise on May 14 at 11 a.m.

Pool, cards, games and socialization available every day.

New members always welcome.

Street sweeping

Nesquehoning borough has announced the tentative schedule for the street sweeping beginning May 10.

The streets will be posted and residents should watch for no parking signs.

The schedule is subject to change based on weather, or how long it takes the crews to complete each street.

• May 10: Catawissa Street - south side; Center Street - north side; Railroad Street - north side; High Street - south side (swept on both sides); Police Station parking lot; The hills heading south from Catawissa Street

May 11: Catawissa Street - north side; Center Street - south side; Railroad Street - south side; Ridge Street - south side (swept on both sides); Nesquehoning Fire Company; The hills heading north from Catawissa Street

May 12: Mill Street - south side (swept on both sides); Coal Street - north side (swept on both sides); Rhume Street - north side; Willow Lane - both sides; Locust Street; Angelini Avenue; Columbus Avenue - north side; Little Flower - both sides; Diaz Avenue - north side

May 13: Columbus Avenue - south side; Diaz Avenue - south side; Garibaldi Avenue - north side (swept both sides); Marconi Avenue - both sides; Rhume Street - south side; New Columbus Fire Company; The streets running north and south

May 14: Village of Hauto; Hauto Estates; Hauto Fire Company

Streets will be posted a day or two before the sweeping occurs.
