Hearing continued in large Tamaqua fight

The Tamaqua woman charged with riot and other offenses for a February incident in the borough had her preliminary hearing continued.

Melissa Ann Bailey, 40, has a hearing scheduled for 11:15 a.m. May 4 in Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer’s courtroom, changed from its prior date of 1 p.m. April 20.

In addition to the riot charge, she faces charges of corruption of minors, terroristic threats, failure to disperse nonofficial order, disorderly conduct and harassment.

Police said two male juveniles, ages 13 and 14, and a female juvenile, age 17, were also charged.

Police were dispatched Feb. 16 for a large fight on Mauch Chunk Street near the Five Points intersection. They encountered Bailey, who was seen yelling at residents inside a home and later came outside. Bailey and the juveniles attempted to start a fight.

Bailey failed to move when ordered to do so by police. She also tried to spit on the residents. Police arrested her.
