PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia police have charged a man they say was in various stages of undress when he allegedly stole a taxi and recklessly drove through a crowded park.
Police say 51-year-old Jonathan Gay attacked a woman who as she exited cab Monday afternoon. When the cab driver went to help the woman, police say Gay began undressing then hopped in and stole the cab.Police say Gay drove through the city's posh Rittenhouse Square section, hitting three parked cars and crashing into a curb before bystanders helps subdue him.Police on Wednesday filed robbery, theft, driving under the influence, simple assault and other charges against Gay who remained jailed Thursday. He's applied for a public defender, but isn't yet represented.Gay faces a preliminary hearing Feb. 23.
