Tamaqua committee approves cameras

Tamaqua Area School Board’s finance committee this week approved the purchase of security equipment and upgrades for security cameras at a cost of $17,975.

Fifteen cameras will be upgraded, and 21 new cameras will be installed.

“I think you’re looking for whatever you can, as technology improves in almost every way,” Kinder added. “The cameras that we used 10 years ago just aren’t as good as the cameras we have now.”

The security measures stemmed from a safety committee that met for a year to look at options.

The district is also looking at securing entrances.
