The following events have been scheduled for Tuscarora State Park or Locust Lake State Park, both located in Barnesville, Schuylkill County.

• Conservation volunteer and avid birder David Kruel will lead a bird walk on April 24, starting at 8 a.m. The walk will begin at Locust Lake State Park parking lot. Kruel will offer helpful information about how to identify the local and migratory songbirds by sight, song, habitat and behavior. The walk is sponsored by the Schuylkill Conservancy. Those attending are encouraged to bring along binoculars. This is not a pet-friendly walk. Shine only. Participants must register for the walk by calling Robin Tracey at 570-467-2506. Space is limited. A mask is required and social distancing will be observed.

• A park naturalist will lead a hike on the “Spirit of Tuscarora Trail” starting at 10:30 a.m. on April 30 to search for early spring wildflowers. The trail is 4.5 miles long and moderate in difficulty. The trail winds through several diverse habitats with a beautiful view of the Tuscarora Lake cove. Meet in the upper beach parking lot near the trailhead and bring a lunch. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed and get along well with people and other pets. Shine only. • Avid birder and wildlife photographer, Thomas Buehl Jr., will lead a bird walk on May 1, starting at 9 a.m. The walk will begin at the Locust Lake parking lot. Buehl will offer helpful information about how to identify the local and migratory songbirds by sight, song, habitat and behavior. Those attending are encouraged to bring along binoculars.
