State police give details on Schuylkill crashes

State police at Frackville report on the following crashes:

• Troopers said Wednesday, March 27, at 1:48 a.m. a patrol unit encountered a vehicle rollover crash along Skyline Drive in New Castle Township. The vehicle, a 2003 Ford Escape, was blocking both lanes of travel. As a result of an investigation the driver, Kori Meyer, 19, of Frackville, was placed under arrest for DUI.

• A pedestrian sustained minor injuries when struck by a vehicle on March 22 at 12:26 p.m. along Route 924, in Shenandoah. Albert Breznik, 76, of Ringtown, was struck by a vehicle operated by Tracey A. Dillman, 48, of Shenandoah. Breznik was taken to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, by Shenandoah ambulance.

Troopers did not give any other details of the incident.

• A crash was reported at 2:45 p.m. on March 21 along Route 54, just east of Interstate 81 in Ryan Township. Troopers said John Yashinsky, 86, of Gilberton, was driving a 2006 Ford F150 pickup truck eastbound when the truck went onto the right berm and impacted with guard rails. After impact, the truck traveled into the westbound lane and came to reset partially blocking the roadway.

Yashinsky was injured and taken to the Geisinger Medical Center. The truck was towed.

• A crash was reported at 2:16 p.m. on March 18 along Morea Road in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Peter S. Soroka, 33, of Effort, was driving a 2010 Honda Civic eastbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. The car struck the deer, causing disabling damages to the vehicle. Soroka was not injured.
