Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Ralph Saunders will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service on Palm Sunday, March 28, in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 a.m. and evening praise and sharing service at 6:30 p.m.

Services for Holy Week: April 1 at Zions United Methodist Church, Reynolds, 7:15 p.m. hymn sing, service at 7:30 p.m.; Good Friday, April 2, at Zion Chapel UMC, New Ringgold service at 1:30 p.m. and Friedens Lutheran Church, New Ringgold at 2:30 p.m. for silent reflection; Saturday, April 3, at Friedens Lutheran Church, New Ringgold service at 6 p.m.; Easter Sunday, April 4, Easter Sunrise service at Lewistown Valley Tabernacle at 6:40 a.m.

Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors met on March 23 at Christ Church, Barnesville with 42 members present. The president opened the meeting with the reading “Springtime Melody” followed by the Lord’s Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and singing of “God Bless America.”

Nancy Eisley and Dolores Walck were added to the sick list. Birthdays celebrated were: January, Doris Yeager; February, Norma Lee Burke, Nancy Nunemacher, Eleanor Schmerfeld, Matilda Kachmar and Ruth Betz; March, Pat Fredericks, Larry Bower and Pat Tracey. Nancy Godenis celebrated a 52nd anniversary.

An Easter ceramic basket was donated by Eleanor Schmerfeld and won by Joyce Krell. Filled baskets were donated by Cindy Godenis. Ice cream and filled eggs were donated by Gloria Gerhard and pizza was donated by Nancy Godenis and Carol Sedlock. Easter eggs were handed out to every member.

The next meeting will be held April 13 at Christ Church, Barnesville at 1 p.m. Anyone 55 or older is invited to attend.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Service is also available by telephone conference opening at 10:20 a.m. and by livestream on the church’s Facebook page or the Zion Group Facebook page beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Sauerkraut dinner

The Culinary Team at Zion Lutheran in Tamaqua is offering a free sauerkraut and pork takeout dinner March 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. or until the food is gone.

Dinners are limited to two per family and can be picked up curbside at the handicapped entrance on Greenwood Street. A freewill offering is appreciated.

Zion Lutheran is located at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets in Tamaqua. Contact 570-66-2180.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services this Sunday at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. The 11 a.m. service is also available on the church’s Facebook page: facebook.com/BethanyECChurch. Care and Connection, Christian Ed, Global Outreach and Discipleship Commission will all hold meetings at noon.

Lunchtime Live is available Monday-Friday with the Rev. Roberts on the church’s Facebook page from 12:30-12:45 p.m.

Activities for the week include: March 30, Good News Club at 4 p.m.; March 31, TYM REMIX at 6:30 p.m., Worship practice at 7:45 p.m.; April 1, Maundy Thursday Service at 7 p.m.; April 2, Here and Now at 5 p.m., Tenebrae service at 7 p.m.
