STEP-Up Tamaqua has a number of upcoming events planned in its efforts to address the issue of drug addiction.A town-hall meeting will be held at 6 p.m. April 12 at the Tamaqua Area Middle School.Instead of its usual monthly meeting, the group will sponsor a naloxone training session at 6:30 p.m. April 17, in Founder's Hall at Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St.Next up will be a combined Tamaqua Rotary/Chamber of Commerce breakfast with guest speaker Schuylkill County District Attorney Christine Holman. That will be held at 8 a.m. May 3 at the Tamaqua Salvation Army.Other events include: May 8 and 22, Families facing Addiction, 6:30 p.m., at Trinity UCC; May 15, Chris Herren appearance, 7 p.m., at Marian High School in Hometown; May 20, Sounding Out Against heroin, 7 p.m., Tamaqua Community Arts center; July 22, Safer Streets For Tamaqua's Little Feet Awareness Walk, 6:30 p.m., Bungalow Park.Soup socialThe next monthly community soup social at Trinity United Church of Christ will be held this Saturday. The social will be held from 4-6 p.m. in the social hall.The meal is free to the public and everyone is welcome to enjoy the soup, desserts, refreshments and time with friends.For more information or to volunteer, stop by the church at 22 Lafayette St. or call 570-668-4139.Book clubThe Bucket List Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. April 5, at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St. The group will review the classic "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn," written in 1943 by Betty Smith.The novel tells the tale of an impoverished Irish-American family during the first two decades of the 20th century.The public is welcome to attend.Zion Stone ChurchZion Stone Church in New Ringgold will host a Miller-Keystone Blood Drive from 7:30 to 11:30
