The Tamaqua Board of Health held its April meeting at the Tamaqua Municipal Building with Rosemarie Noftz, Earl Boettger, Christine Zizelmann R.N., Shirley Becker, health officer Judith Hadesty R.N. and health enforcement officer Matthew Myers in attendance.Myers reported receiving 22 complaints: 12 for trash, with nine resolved; five for animal waste, all resolved; and five properties were condemned as unfit for human habitation, with all resolved.He also updated the number of health licenses issued this year. The total is now 52.There were no cases of reportable diseases in February.Suicide preventionA Suicide Prevention Taskforce meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdayat the Tamaqua Community Art Center.The meeting will include the presentation of a "Save a Life Video" created by high school students. Participants will also learn the common causes of suicide, the warning signs and how to get help, individually or for a loved one or friend.For more information, or to reserve a space, call 570-668-1192. The art center is located at 125 Pine St., Tamaqua.Zion LewistownPastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church of the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes are at 9:15 a.m.The next Bible study session will be held at 12:30 p.m. April 21.St. Peter's UnionSunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church in Mantzville. This Sunday will include the celebration of New Member Sunday. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.Also this Sunday, a congregational meeting will be held at the close of the worship service, and the Cub and Girl Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.Next week's activities include: Monday, church board meeting at 6 p.m.; Tuesday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., Women of St. Peter's meets at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, cherub choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m., junior choir practices at 7 p.m. and senior choir rehearses at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, Confirmation class meets at 6 p.m.; Saturday, spring cleanup begins at 9 a.m.St. John's LutheranThe Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at this Sunday's 9:15 a.m. worship service in St. John's Lutheran Church.Also on Sunday, Confirmation and Sunday school classes will meet at 10:30 a.m. and the learning ministry will meet at 11:30 a.m.The choirs rehearse on Thursdays.
