DECEMBER 23, 1992The Panther Valley School District has received a copy of the documentation Miners Memorial Medical Center in Coaldale submitted to the Schuylkill County Assessment Office in an attempt to substantiate its tax exempt status.After reviewing the paperwork, the district’s business administrator, Ted Yackera Jr., maintained the hospital has the ability to pay the property tax or compensation in lieu of the tax, an issue the hospital has been challenging.Yackera said the state gave Miners Memorial a $2.5 million grant in its first year of operation and that the hospital has a healthy fund balance of $2,344,000.
