Hearing in child’s assault continued

The preliminary hearing for the Pottsville man charged with assaulting an 11- month-old Port Carbon child has been continued.

The date for Patrick Tyler Curran’s preliminary hearing is now 1:30 p.m. March 16 in Magisterial District Judge Plachko’s office, changed from 9 a.m. March 2.

State Police at Schuylkill Haven charged Curran, 27, with assaulting the child last September, potentially causing long-term injuries. He was arraigned previously and is out on bail as of Feb. 26 after someone posted $5,000 cash bail.

He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of endangering the welfare of children, all felonies, and one count each of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, both misdemeanors, and a summary charge of harassment.
