Burke founded the Officers Down 5K in 2011, two years after he began his law enforcement career in 2009.Burke said he wanted to bring the community together to support those in blue rather than wait until an officer was killed in the line of duty. The Officers Down 5K is an annual event representing and celebrating officers who serve our country daily, as well as those who have fallen protecting our communities. For more information, visit
