Santa cleared for landing chopper in Polk Township

Santa Claus is coming to town, but he’s traded in the reindeer and sled for a helicopter.

This Saturday, the West End Food Pantry will host “Santa is Cleared for Landing,” a community event at the Polk Township Firehouse in Kresgeville. Santa will be dropped off at the firehouse at 2 p.m. by High-tech Helicopters.“The pantry is excited to offer this event, not only to our pantry kids but to the community,” WEFP’s Karena Thek said. “We want every child to have festive memories that last a lifetime.”To build up excitement, starting at 1 p.m. attendees can enjoy Christmas music from Dan Dechellis and Shawn Cavanaugh, along with DJ Sammy and Corkins Karaokie. Refreshments, including hot dogs, cookies, and hot chocolate will be available as well.Thek emphasizes that, in the spirit of the holidays, the event will be free.“We love our friends at Polk firehall as well as Chestnuthill Nursery. We are so thankful for High-tech Helicopters for making this event possible, and being the most community-minded company I have ever worked with,” Thek said.A practice run for the helicopter landing was conducted on Saturday, and according to Thek, everything went well. High-tech and WEFP are looking forward to pleasant weather to usher Santa in, and by the looks of it, this Saturday should be a perfect day for the event. So, come on down to the firehouse with the kids this weekend, enjoy some Christmas tunes and treats, and spend some pre-holiday free time with Santa.“As the owner of High-tech and I say, ‘We just want to bring smiles to kids faces to kick of the season!’” Thek said.
