Nesquehoning woman charged with drug sales

A Nesquehoning woman, whose home was recently searched as part of a drug investigation, faces more charges in connection with the investigation.

Tara Lynn Hertzog, 36, of the unit block of East Railroad Street, now faces an additional 15 counts of criminal use of a communication facility and one count each of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was initially only charged with possession with the intent to deliver.

According to an affidavit, filed by Nesquehoning police Detective Richard Neikam and patrolman Kyle Sabulsky, police executed a search warrant in a narcotics investigation at Hertzog’s home on Jan. 21 following a monthlong investigation for reports of narcotics sales, as well as several overdoses at the home.

Police from Nesquehoning and Lansford, as well as Pennsylvania State Police, seized 538 wax packets that are used to hold heroin or fentanyl, a plastic container of what was believed to be fentanyl and other drug packaging materials.

In addition, officers noted the home was littered with drug paraphernalia.

Police arrested everyone who was at the home at the time and during interviews, learned that Hertzog, who is leasing the home, allowed Salvatore J. Canzoneri, 33, of the unit block of East Garibaldi Avenue, and his girlfriend to stay in the home.

Both Hertzog and Canzoneri purchased, sold and delivered the drugs.

On Jan. 25, Neikam was able to download information off Hertzog’s cellphone and found multiple text messages detailing illegal narcotics sales and purchases.

Both Hertzog and Canzoneri have been arraigned and are incarcerated in the county prison after not being able to post $100,000 bail.
